"The Women’s Conference is the largest and most dynamic gathering of women in the nation. The annual Conference unites more than 80 internationally-acclaimed leaders, visionaries, and authors with 14,000 women in one arena, plus thousands more online, to share enriching stories of transformation and success, self-empowerment and life lessons. dreams and ships
geissler
" a ship in the harbor is safe but that is not what ships were built for. "
"the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
- eleanor roosevelt
i feel like i have so much i'd like to do in traveling and helping others. sometimes it seems so far away between studies and the general assumptions of others. i have the opportunity in the near future and the motivation to bring it closer, but it can't happen right this second. it's frustrating. i need to practice patience but at the same time continue to be persistent <3 i'll get there.

The Remains of Detroit
"Ruins are the visible symbols and landmarks of our societies
and their changes, small pieces of history in suspension.
The state of ruin is essentially a temporary situation that happens at
some point, the volatile result of change of era and the fall of empires.
This fragility, the time elapsed but even so running fast, lead us to watch them one very last time : being dismayed, or admire, making us wondering about the permanence of things."

melting men

"In Sao Paulo there were 300 sculptures in April 2005. Later that year, 400 ice figures melted on the L'Opera Stairs and Mairie du Novienne, in Paris. In June 2006 more than 500 melting man were placed in Braunschweig Plaza and in September there were 1000 sculptures melting in the city of Porto. This year the intervention took place in Firenze, Italy were 1200 ice sculptures were placed in the stairs of Instituti delle Inocenti at the Piazza della Santíssima Annunziata, built by the renaissance architect Brunelleschi. As it always happens, the people who were there were invited to help build the monument, placing the ice figures." - N.A.

cardboard love
"I never really intended for these little bits of cardboard to be a big deal, but the response has been both surprising and uplifting.
In general, I am a pretty negative person. This project has been a chance for me to focus on the positive for a change.
Some people like these, some think they are lame, to each his or her own.
I’m just glad to have someone in my life that makes me not afraid to be lame.
Thank you for visiting. I hope something here makes you smile." - C.L.

Space Invaders 2008
"Entitled Space Invaders 2008, the light installation uses a grid of 176 unique lighting fixtures to work its magic. When a person passes in front of a video camera connected to the display, custom software and electronic dimming systems automatically translate movements into adjustments to the intensity of the lights."

San Staë Church
i wish i could have seen this...
"This installation was created in the San Staë Church in Venice back in 2003 for the city's 50th Biennial celebration. Sort of an "other worldly" garden in the air, the artists interweave organic matter with man made pieces to create their mystical floating world. Plastic berries (India), cow pads (Jura), waste paper (Venice), baobab seeds (Australia), beech, elder and magnolia branches (Uster), thorns (Almeria), nylon blossoms (one-dollar-shop), pigs’ teeth (Indonesia), seaweed (Seoul), orange peel (Migros shop), fertilizer crystals (home grown), pigeons’ bones (San Staë), silk buds (Stockholm), cattail (Ettiswil), cats’ tails (China), celery roots (Montreal), virility rind (Caribbean), wild bore quills (zoo), banana leaves (Murten), rubber snakes (Cincinnati)..."
