Paul Villinski: Beer Can Butterflies

Paul Villinski was born in York, Maine in 1960, and has lived and worked in New York City since 1982.

These pieces explore themes of transformation and recovery through the metamorphosis of crushed beer cans from the streets of New York into flocks of realistically crafted butterflies.

Jan Swankmajer

Jan Svankmajer (http://www.jansvankmajer.com/)

One of the great Czech filmmakers, JAN SVANKMAJER was born in 1934 in Prague where he still lives. He trained at the Institute of Applied Arts from 1950 to 1954 and then at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts (Department of Puppetry).

Svankmajer made his first film in 1964 and for over thirty years has made some of the most memorable and unique animated films ever made, gaining a reputation as one of the world's foremost animators, and influencing filmmakers from Tim Burton to The Brothers Quay.

hhhmmmmm.... gross but kinda funny.. i don't feel this film represents his work, but his other stuff just freaks me out too much and i honestly don't understand its appeal. this one was cool though... AND the brothers quay freak me out too as well known as they are!!! at least it's scary interesting and well put together..
